The time is nigh, Tarnished! The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC release date and UK launch time arrives very soon indeed.
Shoutout to any readers from New Zealand which is, famously, often the first place to receive major game updates (thanks to the magic of time difference).
Wherever you're based, by now you've probably paid the DLC price and scrubbed up on the DLC requirements — but have you done your homework fully?
Players need to defeat the bosses Mohg and Radahn (the latter of whom is found in the Ranni quest) before they'll be able to access the DLC.
It's almost time to dust off your Elden Ring armour and sharpen up your best Elden Ring weapons. But when exactly will the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC drop? Read on to find out!
When is the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree release date?
Bandai Namco has confirmed that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will launch on Friday 21st June 2024 but the Steam version is launching on 20th June in the UK.
This is perhaps due to the fact that Bandai Namco is a Japanese publisher and so any regions west of there will see an earlier release date.
We have more on the UK release time just below, so keep reading! If you're already convinced, you can order your copy from CDKeys, Amazon or the retailer of your choice.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree pre-order details
You can now pre-order Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree either as standalone DLC or as part of a new Elden Ring complete edition that includes the full game too.
We've found that CDKeys is the cheapest place for pre-ordering the DLC by itself, knocking off about 25 per cent, depending on the platform you're playing the game. While anyone looking to jump into Elden Ring for the first time and get access to Shadow of the Erdtree too should head to Amazon to pick up a physical copy.
Anyone trying to get their hands on highly-sought after Collector's Edition should check Bandai Namco's official site for its recommendations on where to locate one, if stock remains.
Is there a trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree?
Yes, the first trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was uploaded by Bandai Namco in February 2024.
The three-minute-plus footage shows off plenty of the bosses that fans can look forward to fighting (and dying repeatedly against) along with new locations set beyond the Lands Between.
What will Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree be about?
The Shadow of the Erdtree trailer reveals lore and characters that both hearken back to the base game and include plenty of new elements. Please note, we're diving into spoilers for the main game.
The arm of Miquella (brother of Melania) hangs from the cocoon in the arena where you fight Mohg (fans predicted he'd be involved), and plenty of other bosses are briefly showcased. There's also a new villain called Mesmer to look forward to. In a recent interview with IGN, director Hidetaka Miyazaki had plenty to tell us about the upcoming DLC.
"The setting of Shadow of the Erdtree is a brand new land," he said. "It's a brand new map separate from the Lands Between. It is a land that is overshadowed by the particular Shadow of the Erdtree as opposed to the Erdtree in the Lands Between. And it takes place, again, on an entirely separate, physically separate map."
So it's confirmed that we'll be treated to a whole new map! We'd expect the DLC to range between 15 to 20 hours but that's pure speculation. Hopefully, we'll find out more as we get closer to launch.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on 21st June 2024 across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.
